CN (TSX: CNR: 0.0499, -0.0001, -0.2%)(NYSE: CNI: 34.44, -0.37, -1.06%) announced today a voluntary mitigation agreement with the Village of Mokena, Ill., located southwest of Chicago, that addresses the community’s concerns about CN’s proposed acquisition of the principal lines of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway Company (EJ&E). Under the agreement, CN would provide funding for quiet zones, noise mitigation, and emergency response personnel training and emergency communication capabilities.

CREST HILL - The potential for increased railroad traffic could mean the installation of a sound wall for one Crest Hill subdivision.
Crest Hill officials will host an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall regarding the effect of Canadian National’s potential acquisition of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern rail line on the Cambridge Crest subdivision.

PROPOSAL FOR JOLIET QUIET ZONES
A tentative agreement between the city of Joliet and Canadian National Railway could mean more trains with less noise. Quiet zones at all city crossings are one of the main features of the agreement, which still must be approved by the city council.
