    CN reaches seventh Illinois voluntary mitigation agreement for EJ&E transaction

    CN (TSX: CNR: 0.0499, -0.0001, -0.2%)(NYSE: CNI: 34.44, -0.37, -1.06%) announced today a voluntary mitigation agreement with the Village of Mokena, Ill., located southwest of Chicago, that addresses the community’s concerns about CN’s proposed acquisition of the principal lines of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway Company (EJ&E).  Under the agreement, CN would provide funding for quiet zones, noise mitigation, and emergency response personnel training and emergency communication capabilities.

    Crest Hill reaches deal with CN on EJ&E

    CHICAGO — Canadian National announced an agreement Tuesday with the city of Crest Hill, regarding its proposed acquisition of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway.  The agreement addresses municipal concerns about the community impact of the transaction through the proposed creation of quiet zones and implementation of noise mitigation measures.

    City considers sound wall on railway plans

    CREST HILL - The potential for increased railroad traffic could mean the installation of a sound wall for one Crest Hill subdivision.

    Crest Hill officials will host an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall regarding the effect of Canadian National’s potential acquisition of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern rail line on the Cambridge Crest subdivision.

    Agreement could silence train horns
