New Lenox RailSense is devoted to providing timely information about the proposed purchase of the EJ&E Railway by the Canadian National Railway, a move that will dramatically increase rail freight traffic through New Lenox and other communities.
With five grade crossings, New Lenox is the second-most impacted community of all municipalities located along the EJ&E. Without plans to ease traffic back-ups caused by more trains, not to mention delays for first responders, the existing proposal is not acceptable to New Lenox. Nonetheless, New Lenox believes in taking a measured response (read about our proposed solutions).
